Yes, with proper programming and monitoring, it is safe to have an MRI with a cardiac device. Our team works closely with your cardiologist to ensure your device is MRI-conditional and to make any necessary adjustments.
Ensure you have your pacemaker or defibrillator implant card. The Radiographers will request to see the implant card to determine if the cardiac device is MR Conditional. The Tachy Tech will collaborate with the Radiographers and consult your Cardiologist to determine if it is safe for you to have an MRI scan.
On the day of your scan, follow the radiographer’s instructions, which may include fasting or avoiding certain medications. Ensure you bring any relevant medical records and inform the MRI technician about your cardiac device.During the MRI, you will lie still in the scanner while your heart rate is continuously monitored. Our team will be there to ensure your safety and address any concerns you may have.
